The All Saints Fair: What’s Possible When a Community Comes Together
This week’s edition of Saints Alive is dedicated to a very special event in the life of our School: the 2026 All Saints Fair.
As many of you know, this year holds particular significance as we celebrate 40 years of All Saints Anglican School. It feels fitting that, in this milestone year, we come together for an event that so beautifully reflects the heart of our community.
This will be my first All Saints Fair and I must say, I am very much looking forward to it. Since arriving at All Saints, I have heard so many wonderful stories about Fair days gone by. I have heard about the rides (straight from the Ekka!), the reunions, the alumni rugby match, the long days, the generous volunteers and the sense of pride that comes from seeing the whole community working together. My family and I can’t wait to experience that for ourselves this year.
What has already struck me is the extraordinary amount of work that happens well before Fair day arrives. Behind every stall, attraction, prize, donation and roster is someone giving their time and energy to make the day possible. I have seen the care, organisation and generosity being poured into this event by our Fair Convenors Kat and David Pearson, the Fair Committee, P&F, stall convenors, parent volunteers and staff. It is a significant undertaking and I am sincerely grateful to everyone who is helping to bring it to life.
The All Saints Fair is, of course, a day of fun. It is rides, food, stalls, prizes, entertainment and students counting down the sleeps. But it is also much more than that. It is one of those rare occasions when the whole school community can gather in one place: students, parents, staff, alumni, grandparents and friends of All Saints. It is The Spirit of Us in action: people giving their time, energy and care to contribute to something bigger than ourselves.
The generosity behind the Fair also has a lasting impact. Through the wonderful work of our P&F, funds raised are returned to the school to support projects, resources and opportunities for our students. Every ride pass, raffle ticket, donation and volunteer shift becomes part of that shared contribution.
We are fortunate that All Saints still has a genuinely parent-led Fair. In a time when many schools have moved away from large community-run events, this is something worth treasuring. It says something very special about the spirit of All Saints that families continue to step forward, roll up their sleeves and help create an experience that our students will remember.
As we celebrate 40 years, this year’s Fair gives us a chance to honour the traditions that have shaped All Saints while creating new memories for the families who are part of our school today. I suspect many of our past students and long-standing families still remember their own Fair days with great fondness. This year, another generation of students will have the chance to make those memories too.
A Fair of this scale only happens with many helping hands. In this special Fair edition of Saints Alive, you will find a range of ways to be involved, whether that is volunteering, donating items, purchasing ride passes or encouraging others to come along.
No contribution is too small. I encourage every family to read through this edition and consider one way you might be able to support the Fair. Whether you have been part of All Saints for many years or have only recently joined our community, this is a wonderful opportunity to connect, contribute and be part of something that belongs to all of us.
I look forward to seeing you there and sharing in what promises to be a very special day for All Saints.
